Default potential corrosion source

Was in the process of installing some fender trim on my 08 PT and in the process happened to look behind the molded plastic mud flaps at the rear of the front wheel wells. Found the cavity behind the flaps loaded with mud, crud, dirt, and leaves. Cleaned it all out so as not to invite rust to form and rot out the rockers from the inside out.

Y'all may want to check yours... easy to access, only 4 screws to remove.

Yes that's a good idea that every so often comes up. But it needs to be as it gets forgot about. The sun roof also drains into the rockers as well.

I just put on a new set of OEM splash guards on the rear wells of SOO BIG. I'd sent photos of the guards in a thread to the forum the previous week showing that they came with the bottom edge of the area your referring to already sliced.
The opinions were varied, but the majority thought those slices were intentionally either done in Mexico originally or duplicated on OEM splash guards to prevent any fluid build up in this area. Most who checked their guards out spotted this slice.
I suggest, if yours aren't sliced to do it to prevent the accumulation problem your having. ptprice
