Default 2001 Cruiser AC issues help!

First off thanks for taking time to help a fellow cruiser out. I was driving yesterday and my ac would kick on then off rinse repeat etc etc. So today I start her up turn on the AC no cold air the compressor doesnt seem to kick over. So i checked the low side and it read 5 psi "super low". So i run to Autozone pickup a R-314a recharge can and follow instructions. I get it right up to the sweet spot at 45psi and still the compressor doesnt stay on. It kicked over 2-3 times for a few seconds during the 20 minute charging time. Shes still blowing hot air where should I start looking next?

I would suggest you check your radiator fan.
Are you getting any engine trouble codes?
With the engine cold, start the engine and turn on the A/C. Does the radiator fan come on automatically?
If the radiator fan does not kick in check the high and low speeds on the radiator fan.

There are 2 speeds on the radiator fan. You need to verify that both speeds are working. If the low speed does not work then you are not cooling the condenser for the A/C and the compressor will kick out. You may damage the compressor if your low speed radiator fan is not working.

Did you try this?

I would suggest you verify the radiator fan low speed is bad by directly applying 12 volts to it.

when was the last time the radiator fan was replaced? The radiator fan is one of the most common parts being replaced on the PT Cruisers.

This will determine if its a radiator fan problem or if there is a problem in the radiator fan circuit.

I had the fan replaced with a brand new one 4 years ago. I just checked the fuses under the hood and inside for the FAN and both were good.

I would suggest you pull your low speed radiator fan relay, start it up and see if the high speed on the radiator fan automatically comes on.

This will tell you if the radiator fan circuit up to the relays is working fine.

Ok heres what i just did. I put 12 volts on the fan via a battery connected to the socket on the fan she starts right up. Next i removed the low speed relay started her up ran for 5 minutes with AC on and the fan was on for sure. I heard it spin down after shutting it off.
