Default Do PT's drain the battery if not used often?

Hi - please can you help? My PT is only used in fine weather (NZ) so that may mean a couple of weeks in garage. Sometimes only a few days.
My 2003 has a 3 years old battery which has been 'dead' recently if not run regularly. [I only use it 90% short journeys].

Got AA to charge it overnight, they said its ok.
However it has flattened again.

I wonder if it is normal for "something" to drain battery ALL the time or could there be a fault?
I am prepared to buy new battery but don't want this to continue.

Also what about the Ctec (permanently-on trickle chargers)?
Only trouble with one of those is leaving bonnet up after accessing the hidden battery to fit 'crocodile' clips to terminals.
I really appreciate any replies.

If you have fog lights....check to see if they are on even though they are off.
Earlier PT's have a problem with the MFS, also you can pull fuse #8.

With my wife not driving these days and two others cars, my PT is hardly used and when it leaves the garage it's only taken about 8 miles to the Sheriff's station and parked for 4 days while I take the patrol car out for duty. At the end of that, it went back 8 miles to my home garage. I was finding the PT unable to start or several occasions. Now I have both the PT and my Vette on float chargers that keep the battery topped up as long as the charger is plugged into the 12 volt lighter socket. Hadn't had a problem since I started doing that over a year ago and both cars are ready to go when I am.

Had the same issue. I had to buy a battery maintainer.
I bought it at Sears.
DieHard DIEHARD CHARGER/MAINTAINER -Mfg# 71219-CA
If you buy one with a versatile quick disconnect harness
you can hard wire it to the battery. I ran mine from the battery to the grill
opening. This way I don't need to open the hood (bonnet)

I bought the Duracell 2Amp Battery Maintainer with the cigarette lighter adapter so it just plugs into the 12v socket in the center console.

could be early signs of a dying battery......you can buy one of those portable jump starters just in case.

The actual answer is simply yes. As with most all vehicles manufactured from about 1995 up. Now how long would be the question ask to drain a battery to the point of not starter would be a better question to ask? And also suppling the time the PT in question sat before a restart was attempted.

my 06 Pt takes right at 3 weeks of no use
My 2000 Ford ranger is really like 2 1/2 weeks and it is dead
my pontiac grand am is a 04 it last the longest something like 2 months
and the winner at my farm is the 2004 Chevy Duramx it never really ever sits more than a day or two but i had some drive train work done---transfeer case tranny driveshaft done and it actually had to sit almost 6 months started right up but then it has 2 heavey duty Interstate batters in it so that might be why?????
