How did you repair/replace Engine to Strut groundstrap?

Default How did you repair/replace Engine to Strut groundstrap?

Like many others have experienced, the ground strap to the strut on our PT Cruiser has broken close to the point where it attaches the strut, on both struts. I was wondering if you repaired this or just replaced it (OEM is about $12 each side). Or did you buy some generic groundstrap? If so, what was the length and size.

If this was just regular wire, I would just splice and solder a new end piece to it, but since it is this braided ground wire, I'm not sure if it would be a good idea or it if is doable.

I need to replace/repair mine, as well. The one on the left side is broken in two. The one on the right is missing the cap that pops in on the under-body and the wire clip for that spot.

I would assume that a large gauge, copper stranded wire would work just fine.

I'd like to hear from the pt experts on this one, though, as I'm new to this car.
