Default Replacing center bulb for Climate Controls

Hey, guys. I bought replacement bulbs for the 3 locations in the Climate Control module of the dash for my 2002 Touring. I've looked for posts on how to get these bulbs out, but haven't found what I'm looking for.

The lamp on the left side is the one that's a real bi@#$, due to the amount of space you have to work with. I think I've figured a way to get that one replaced. The lamp on the right side is pretty straight forward.

However, the one that I'm having issues with is the one in the center. There seems to be a metal bar running along the back of the assembly that won't allow you to remove or install the bulb. Can anyone tell me how to get around this issue without having to completely disassemble the module and remove the cables? I have the main harness connector unplugged, and I can rotate the module around a bit, but the back is coated with this sticky grease, which I assume is to ensure that the cables operate smoothly. It's kind of a mess, but I'm sure that somebody must've figured out the best way to approach this. I'm open to any suggestions that you may have.

Thanks,
Steve

Cool Re: Replacing center bulb for Climate Controls

THere is no substitute for having it nearly out in your hands.
But, like you, I did not want to disconnect any cables.

I used a right angle needle nose pliar to deliver the bulb and socket to the correct location.
Then, held in place with my "pinkie", and grabbed to twist in from the front.

Thanks, Frank. I'll give that a try. What makes it a real pain is trying to keep all of that damned grease off of your fingers, and ultimately off of the bulb and its contacts. Yet, another fine example of engineers designing something that obviously had no clue on the impact to the repair persons...
