Default burned out dashboard bulb?????????

All dashboard lights are working except fuel gauge light on far left of dashboard. Everything else ok.
Is replacing it a big hassle? If so, how to do it? Thoughts?
Thanks, as always.....

Never done dashboard repairs before, so maybe I'm just a but intimidated (air bag, trim, etc.) But I could see this being $300 at the dealer.

I need to do the same pretty soon. I have 2 bulbs burnt out.

I can say, and this is coming from a guy that's not very experienced with auto repairs and such, but I am handy and have worked on motorcycles for 30 years, that the PT trim pieces all pop off quite easily, as long as you pull in the right direction when you take them off, and follow the descriptions on the HOW TO threads (I've just removed my rear hatch trim, and driver's side door trim to do some repairs and it was VERY easy). So if you're at all handy, it shouldn't be too hard.

I've read, too, that when replacing one bulb, replace them all, as the others will go at some point, so better to replace them all at once. They are cheap enough.

THere are also LED replacements, which you can install and likely never have to change again. But read up as some are VERY bright, and I've read others don't dim properly when you turn the dimming switch on the Multi-Function Switch.

One more thing that is helpful is a trim stick. I got mine for $8.

The HOW TO mentions using your fingers, or a screwdriver with tape on it, which works well, but also a bit scary if you slip. The trim stick is hard plastic. It lets you pry on stuff without fear of scratching.

I'm sure lots of people don't use them. I like using it.

when i did this i did it timing myself. it took ten minutes to get the cluster out and ten minutes to get it back in. i did do a few time saving shortcuts though, such as after removing the screw behind the window switch, i pulled the trim off letting the knobs fly where they may instead of removing them before hand. i didn't break anything and it made me giggle.

10 minutes out, 10 minutes in. provided you have the tools you need (philips, nut driver, etc) already on hand, and you work like you're going for a speed record.

or on the other end of the time spectrum, there's the Nitro method.. What did you do to your Cruiser today?
