Default What Are Your Turbo Mileage Figures?

Hey Guys, I was just wondering what type city/highway figures you're getting in your GT's. My son just filled mine up and said 21.3 mpg. I was HOPING for something a little better than that, but he does have a heavy foot. Kind of like me. I try to drive within 5 mph of the speed limit in most places and rarely kick the turbo in. I'm not sure about him. Lots of stop and go traffic around here, so is this a fairly reasonable number to y'all?

My car is a 2005 PT GT automatic with Stage 1 PCM and performance camshafts that have a big ol' butch of advance on the valve timing. I was able to go 265 miles on my last fill up and it took 12.5 gallons of 93 octane fuel to top her back off. So it looks like a got 21.2 mpg. I usually run somewhere around 22 mpg. So this is right there in the ballpark.

PS: My 2001 PT Limited automatic with stock engine got just about the same identical fuel mileage on regular fuel. This seems about average for a PT Cruiser. A PT has lot's of good features. But good fuel mileage is not one of them.

Lots of forum information about MPG.

Our 2005 GT when I use a PCM calibrated file for traveling we get into the mid to upper 30's mpg. Documented over a couple years before I started doing my own PCM calibrations the best highway was around 24mpg. The overall average for 3 years of driving in all conditions and about 18K+ miles is rounded up 23mpg.

The 22mpg is generally the normal average for all PT Cruisers Turbo or NA. Remember most of the time in a Turbo Charged PT Cruiser you are not in boost and are only NA.

The claims of a manual getting better MPG then automatic version PT Cruiser has more to do with the driving habits and as with all best mpg claims the mechanical condition of the Cruiser rather then the transmission. Respectably!!!

Thanks for the replies, fellas. As long as I'm in the ball park, I'm okay with it. On the drive home from the gas station today though, in my 2013 200 with the 2.4 N/A I got 31.3 mpg. It's 25 miles from the gas station and I was driving 65-70mph.

In all cases to achieve the best MPG in a PT Cruiser the maximum speed should not exceed 63mph.

I'm scratching my head about this one: Today I filled up the Turbolite at a Chevron one block from the freeway entrance, drove 36 miles on the freeway, dropped off a package at a place 1.2 miles from the freeway, made the return trip and filled up again right off the freeway. Total miles: 74.4. Total gas needed to fill up: 1.546 gal. = 48 MPG. !! Impossible!! The trip computer wouldn't budge over 22.6 mpg, by the way. But 48 mpg? Strange...

There are dozens of explanations and they will all result in a more accurate mpg no dobt in the 20's.

Around 38mpg but it is an automatic. Its lower when driving around town though, more like 32mpg.
