Default Compare Salvage Yard Prices

I've read many posts here where folks are getting all sorts of things from salvage yards for your PT's for some phenomenal prices.

Here in NY, prices are not so great, it seems, compared to what the rest of you are paying. So it got me thinking about starting a thread where we can compare what prices we are paying for similar items at different salvage yards across the country.

(I know that some of these prices may have to do with condition of the items, but I'd still like to see if I can get an idea of the different prices we pay for the same things.)

I'll start off with dashboards: $75-$100

Next, Gen 1 premium front door speaker (driver's side): $10

What do you all pay for these? Please include general location.

Driver's side, heated, folding, electric mirror: $40

Nashville, TN Pull-A-Part, you can get the entire dash assembly with air bag for $79.95 and a $7.50 core fee. Without the air bag, it's $69.95 along with the core charge. $19.95 for an electric door mirror. Couldn't find info for a heated one. $5.95 for any speaker. I haven't had any luck finding prices on the www for the place I go here in Florida.

Here in central Arkansas, the Pick-n-Pull is the only yard that goes strictly off the price sheet. And even then, there's lots of variation.

As an example, I once spend over an hour getting a satellite receiver harness out of the car. But when I took it up front, they rang it up as a "large harness" and tried to charge me $35 for it. I didn't take it.

However, recently I pull a satellite harness with the multiplexer still attached. When I took it to the front, they rang it up as a "small harness" and it was $9. It all depends on who it ringing up the parts. And the most important part is to go to the salvage yards often so the folks there get to know you. And once they know you, they usually take better care of you when ringing stuff up.

This really applies at the non-chain salvage yards. At those, they usually just give me the small parts because they know I'll eventually buy some bigger stuff.

The only deals I get from a salvage yard is from a couple of friends on here who are gracious to hook me up from time to time. you know who you are. no deals on parts here where I'm from.
