Default How Much Transmission Fluid Does a PT Hold

Hey Guys, I noticed a slight leak around the pan on the GT when I was changing the oil the other day and think I'll just go ahead and change the fluid and filter in it. There's no telling how many miles this has on it since I got it used and have no history. I gave up on getting the damn timing belt cover off for now. It's getting 22.2 mpg around town, so I think it's pretty frigging close on the timing anyway. Now, I don't know how many quarts of Mopar ATF+4 to get and don't want to spend too much if I don't have to. I figure I'll let it drain overnight, so am thinking around 5 quarts. I checked the Walmart brand of ATF+4 and will get mine there for $4.27 per quart. It does meet the Chrysler MS-9602 standard, so don't go getting on me about buying it, okay? I can get the filter kit at every parts store here for about $12. I'd just like to know how many quarts to get. Thanks

click the attachment. hope this helps.

you said not to get on you, so.. i would use the walmart stuff to flush it and then add a quality fluid you trust to last a lot of miles. at the same time i've blown up every automatic i've ever owned so i may not be the best to comment.

i do stand by the AllDataPro specs though. (:

Thanks, Rob. As a member of allpar for over 15 years, there are several members there that I've built a good rapport with that I trust. One is a retired ASE master mechanic from a Chrysler dealership and he's repeatedly stated that the Walmart brand is trustworthy as it meets or exceeds the Chrysler requirements. I'll use it as I do not drive the PT aggressively unless absolutely necessary. I got most of that out of my system with other, faster cars at a younger age! LOL I mainly just want to get clean fluid in it and see how it does. The old fluid is not as clean looking as I'd like for it to be and I'd like to keep this vehicle for a while. It's paid for!
