Default 2006 and up Ignition redesign- Key cylinder removal

The Second Generation, 2006 and up ignition cylinder housing was redesigned
but still functions the same. Inserting the key pushes a plastic pin in the housing to close a switch (make contact) in the electric starter switch.

I've read where the car will not run with a broken pin, mine ran for a year, I know I broke it a year ago. It has now stopped trying to start.
Nothing happens when I turn the key except the dash lights up and the security light blinks. The battery is fully charged and I can jump
the starter from the battery to the small (Bendix) terminal and it cranks every time.
Here, to make it easy for you to remove your 2006 and up Key Cylinder is a pic with the instructions.

Ignition Key cylinder removal after removing the right side of the MFS looks possible if you have a LONG thin stiff (about 1/16'' ) rod
to push the release in the oval slot after turning the key to on but not start on the top of the key cylinder housing.

Oh god this is exactly what I needed but I have no idea how to remove the black trim from above it... this ended up being more difficult than I expected.

I have the security torx bits but can't see which else I need to remove. I'll post a video to see if anybody else can help.

There are three recessed torx screws you must take out from the bottom side of the steering wheel plastic cover to access the Multi function switch- SKIM module and ignition key-cylinder.
The torx screw to remove the ignition cylinder is a "5" point.

Another attempt at this... my guess is that you first removed the housing completely from the bottom 3 recessed screws and THEN pushed in the hole at the top? Man...

That would help a lot if this ends of working. I wish I had a gopro attached to a helmet so I can make a few bucks putting this onto youtube.

Wish me luck. I'm about to start.... again... lol wasn't successful before.

I think the end torx bits at the bottom are only to remove the plastic shroud?

I think the two FIVE POINT TAMPER PROOF TORX BITS (of course I have the 6 point...) are the ones to lower and remove the cylinder?

BRB going to home Depot and autozone... sigh...

I got all the screws off and pretty much have the entire housing dangling. Now I turn the key two clicks (not starting the car) push down with the thinnest Allen wrench I have and I still can't pull out the key. I'm pressing the oval spot up top with the Allen wrench and nothing is happening...

I have removed the entire housing just like shown in the picture.

Holy mother effing cow. I got it out. BRB. Going to record everything in case I have trouble putting it back together. God this process was not fun.

Once you take it out, shine a light while moving from the first click to the second click without going all the way to crank the ignition. If you push the key in, a bit, you will see the 1/8" or smaller metal button. Don't push the key in, leave it in the second click and with a thin tool (I personally used a tiny Allen wrench) push the button down, and the key should just pop out

Wtf chrysler. How do I get into this to replace the ignition switch? These aren't torx screws... are these rivets? Do I have to replace the entire module instead of only the ignition switch? Why?@?!?!!

Now my turn signals and wipers stopped working once everything is back together. Headlights are always on. Personal guess is that I blew a fuse. All connections are back on perfectly as before.

I did leave ONLY the positive terminal on and disconnected the negative. Tomorrow evening I'll leave both off for 10 minutes and check fuses. Ugh I hate checking fuses. It takes so long.

I'm starting to not like this car...
