Question 2006 PT Base Model Washer Tank Leak

Tonight we noticed two very long streams of leakage on the driveway from the PT. They were still wet but weren't gasoline, motor oil or anti-freeze.

There is too much for condensation and our current weather wouldn't support that.

The leaks are on the passenger side. I opened the hood and could see a wet area on the frame member just under the firewall. From there I could see a slow drip.

The washer tank is in that area, so we turned the ignition without starting the engine and I had my wife operate the washer switch. The squirters worked correctly. After that test, I could see more dripping on the ground at a faster rate than before. From that test, I believe the pressure of operation resulted in the increased leakage.

I don't know if it is a cracked hose or a split in the tank. Has anyone else run into this before?

It is perhaps uncommon for a car only eight years old to have a washer tank failure but it happens. Plastics die for many reasons.
Good thing they are the same from 01-10 so it is likely you can find a replacement used in your local pick apart yard. Probably fifteen minutes to remove and another ten to install.

AC drip hose is over there too. Did you run the ac during the day at all?

No, the heat was on all day. We have seen AC condensation drips before. Nothing like this.

You might go ahead and pull the tank - it doesn't look too hard as I was just in there looking at how to install a cabin filter. Doubt it's the tank or hose but might be the washer pump.

Pulling the tank is not too hard. The center wiper has to be removed. Then there's a little round rubber bumper on top of the fender (keeps hood from rattling) to be removed. Then a bunch of little plastic fasteners and the cowl cover wiggles out. The tank is held in place with three bolts. I've done it a bunch of times over the life of the car to replace my DIY cabin filter.
