Default Gas Mileage

I've been trying to see how good I can do for gas mileage, and today I made it up to 26.7 MPG. That's the best yet. I drive back and forth to work, 9 miles one way, part highway part city. I think that's pretty good for a Cruiser.

I'll see if I can get it any higher.

Good going! I wish mine was that good. I have a 2002 Touring model, however I drive 45 miles each way to and from work (all highway). I use just a hair over a quarter tank per day. I'll have to calculate that, but I don't think it's very good.

Well, I just 'go easy' on the gas. It is a 5-speed so that helps. The gas mileage not always this high, usually more down around 25.5-ish or so, if I'm 'in a hurry'.

My son has a 2002 Base Model with a 5-speed and he usually gets around 27 MPG. Although he recently had to put a timing belt in, and now says he gets around 25 MPG.

I get around 24 to 26 around town with my '03 5 speed, and when mostly on the highway I can get up to 33 with it. I'm currently driving about 80 miles round trip, 95% highway and it's right around 30.

There are dozen more threads started about MPG, I just got tired of cut and pasting them. There are Hundreds of members and thousands of responses of the years and there is one common denominator in almost every thread and 95% of the responses, can you guess what it is?

So it is naturally with an affectionate expression of when some of read about MPG on new threads.

The real MPG will come tomorrow when I adjust with paper and pencil computations.
I uploaded a special MPG PCM calibration
