Default Purchase a 2002 touring or 2003 gt turbo

I have the option to buy a 2002 touring with 92k and 5spd, new crossmember, leather, sunroof, brakes and aftermarket wheels for 2200 or a slightly worn 2003 gt turbo fully loaded but with 142k and some rust starting behind passenger rear door.

Any thoughts???

We would likely need photos to make a fair assessment.

The GT has lot more options for cool mods and actual performance. But we'd need to get a visual on the difference in condition to give helpful advice.

What are your plans for the car (racing, street performance, nifty non-performance mods, just basic transportation, etc.)?

If you're in a hurry to get places, go with the GT. If not, go for the other one.

One point you might want to consider is that the radiator fan is unique on the 2003 GT Turbo and very difficult to diagnose the problem when the radiator fan is not working properly.

2003 Turbo Fan $565.00

2002 radiator fan $104.68. You can get it even cheaper at Rockauto.com $86.00

$800 difference between the 2...I'd go for the GT and use the $800 to replace the timing belt & water pump.

And the '02 is a manual - much more trouble-free than the GT auto.
The GT should be given premium gas, the '02 will get better mileage (with manual) on regular gas.
Are those wheels or hubcaps on the GT? With the white hood, looks like a cop car...

On the 2003 GT is that back bumper pushed up on the passenger side?

Thanks all, leaning toward the 02 and yes it looks like the rear bumper is pushed up on the gt and it has hubcaps so someone took the nice factory wheels.
