Final gearing means alot. And the caravan has a few motor options.

Wish we could set up a drag race and see which one gets to the 1320 first.

Who do you think will be there first.

Yep.

I'm pulling right at 370 hp on my Charger which weights a 1,000 pounds more than my PT did. And fuel mileage is dead-on the same. It's appears that 22 mpg seemed to be Daimler Chrysler's goal back in the 2000's.

I agree, the final drive ratio makes a huge difference. What the PT needs is an overdrive FOR the overdrive!

My 01 pt get worse milage than my 15 caravan.
The caravan would smoke the pt in 1/4 mile. The new caravans are surprisingly quick. For what they are. My Jag would smoke them all. Lol

Smaller motor doesn't always mean gas milage. The weight versus HP of the PT is a huge factor. This is why the GTs can do as well as a N/A. If both are running at their optimum levels. A V6 would have performed better. But that would have been a different look to acomadate the bigger motor.

In my 2001 Limited, 4th gears seemed to lug too much on the street but was just right on the highway. However, in my GT with mods, I agree. I could have used one more top end gear for highway driving.

My '01 PT, 2.4L, auto... best 26mpg
Mom's '06 Grand Caravan, 3.8L V6, auto... best 28mpg

And the much larger GC is noticeably faster than my PT.

Cheers!

Speaking of gas mileage, is it worth it to have the computer Re-programed to run on the economy side for better gas mileage..?

8-9 years in technology is a long time.. surely there have been updates to how the engines run when comparing a 9 year old PT to a new Caravan.

My 01 got the best mileage, my 03 want to run forever, and my 06 ran better, quieter, smoother, had more power, but doesn't want to run at all.. now
