Sure why not?

I use mainly Mobile 1 but do have Royal Purple in my stock of oil.

Generally speaking just about anything will do just fine as long as it is detergent oil and you keep up on changing the oil and filter at least every 3-5k miles.

**If you ever have questions to what is going on in your oils send in a small sample and have it checked!

This really save's having to read through a considerable amount of opinions and recommendations BS that you may find and read on the internet. Even mine .

My soninlaw is a chemical engineer. He works for the company that acquired Royal Purple some years ago. I asked him the same question. He said that the plant he works in and all the other plants the company owns have all used Royal Purple for their industrial purposes way before they acquired the business.
I guess that is some recommendation since some of the equipment in these plants is decades old and some factory fresh and all old were changed to RP and all new Get RP.

i used to use royal purple, but now i use mobile 1 instead. 2 reasons:

1- it's $24.97 for 5qts at home depot vs $37 for RP
2- it's oil colored. i couldn't tell when purple oil was dirty. RP turns brown but that doesn't mean it's dirty it just means the dye is dissipating. oil that looks dirty but isn't was confusing to me because i change my oil when it looks dirty

from their site:

"Does Royal Purple maintain its purple color after itís put into service?"
No. The dye used to color the oil dissipates shortly after being put into service. At some point the color will turn brown.

I can only tell when my oil is dirty after I blow an engine and the metal flakes fill the filter and oil.

Other wise oil changes color because of gas contamination which occurs rather quickly even in the best of engines after a few thousand miles. The exception is if an alternative fuel is used like Propane.

I do want to comment that Gold2006 has some good prices on engine lubrication and cooling products and even auto parts and that members should PM him about this.

I use Castrol Syntec in mine along with a Purolator Gold filter. It's all a matter of personal choice.
