Default What do you think is this creak noise?

After installing new sway bar bushings it fixed the bump noise but now I have a even more of a annoying noise. sigh It's a loud creak. When I step and push on the drivers side of the outside of the door it creaks. Also it creaks when driving at low speeds. Sounds like a old bed. haha I bought new links and probably didn't have to do that since my old ones look ok. Could the new links cause a issue? My mechanic did have one side of the car jacked up high. Not sure if that could cause a strut issue. I've had a creak noise when I go over bumps in the cold weather for a year but never a creak like this. Any help would be appreciated.

You replaced the bar bushings too? If installed dry they will make that noise.
You don't need much. This is what I use.

- 119K Gates water pump failed after only 10K miles. Replaced with Airtex. This time around it was a 7 hour job.

I had a noise going over bumps. My mechanic took off the sway bar and I drove it for a day without it. The noise went away. He replaced the sway bar bushings / links and used the silicone. Then the creaking started. He spent awhile messing with it. He thinks it's a strut. I guess I'll have him take it off and see if the creak goes away. I have few other people I can take it to but they're busy now. Guess I should have just taken it to the shop. I know it's a easy job but I teaked my back.

Sight unseen, we cannot rule out a strut over the internet. But if it does not do this with the bar removed, it's likely related to the bar. And based solely on what's been discussed in this thread, the sway bar bushings are the prime candidate.

You may need more that just silicon lube spray. The silicon grease made for this is very thick and will stay in place much longer. Another idea is just to try a different set of bushings. These bushing are fairly cheap. And even though the replacement bushings your mechanic used may be black, it's possible they are made of polyurethane, thermal plastic or another materiel prone to noise without the correct lubrication. An OEM set might not do this.

If it was me, I'd take the sway bar bushings loose and lubricate them heavily with synthetic bearing grease. This is cheap, readily available at most parts stores and I already have some. If that stopped the noise, I'd consider it fixed. But I'd inspect the bushings every once in a while to assure the synthetic bearing grease is not causing the bushings to degrade. And if they started squeaking again later, I'd just replace with OEM bushings or some good polyurethane bushings that come with their own grease.

I bought the bushings at a Chrysler dealership since they were about the same price at auto zone. Now hopefully my mechanic has no problem doing it again. Will the creak affect anything if I don't fix it right away? Thanks for the reply

If the noise is caused by the bushings as we suspect, short term, it won't hurt anything but your ears.

The noise has pretty much gone away. Not sure if the cold weather has to anything with it. How many miles is suggested to replace the struts? I'll probably get them done soon or maybe after winter.
