Default broken bolt on right engine mount - essential to replace?

When I was working on getting in to my timing belt to replace it, I removed the four bolts that held the right engine mount in place so that I could rotate it, giving me more clearance to get the engine support bracket out. Unfortunately, the upper rear bolt sheared off while doing so (see pic, upper right).

There doesn't seem to be any way of getting at the stub of the bolt (see pic) without drilling through the frame from the other side, which will be a huge pain.

So, is it really essential to have all four bolts in the right engine mount? As I understand it, the mount transmits its load directly to the frame via the circular cutout, and the bolts only hold it in place, so I hope three may be sufficient (layout diagram).

Thanks in advance for any advice!

I see we have to have a password to see the images.

Are you saying that you can't drill it out from the top of the broken bolt? Is there no flat surface on the top of the broken bolt?

I was able to view the pics, I think what the OP is saying is that there isn't enough room in the engine side to get a drill in there to drill a hole into what is left of the bolt and then try an easy out?

I would suggest using a center drill long enough to reach the broken bolt. Make sure you use a cobalt and not high speed or carbide.

Use a long cobalt drill after you are done with the center drill to drill through the bolt and then use an easy out.

I'd sleep just fine at night with 3 out of 4.

Yeah, the problem is I can't reach it. I have a 90 degree drill head but it's too bug to get in there between frame and engine. Only way I can see of reaching it is to drill through the frame from the other side. So that's why I hoped it might be ok with three of the four

I'm like Rob. As long as 3 are in it and tight, I'd be just fine driving it.

Thanks for the comments, I guess I will try it with the three remaining bolts. I think anything I could do to get the broken stump out might just make things worse...
