Default If It Ain't One Thing, It's Another

Well, as the title implies, here it is. Thursday, my son, wife and daughter take the PT to the mall. I don't go because I despise shopping malls. Anyway, while cruising down a lane looking for a parking spot, some woman in a Durango backs up and hits the front end of the PT. My son said he was laying on the horn and she just kept coming. There was a car behind him, so he had nowhere to go. Blam! She pops into the front of the PT. They both get out and look and conclude there's no damage and go about their merry ways. My son needs to get his frigging eyes checked. I'll post a couple of pictures and you guys tell me if a man with no money should even try to fix this. I'm highly pissed at my boy right now, as I can tell this WON'T be that easy to remedy. And my chrome grille cover is now broken. Son of a ..................

i would make the boy pay for it. seems every problem you have with that car comes back to him. some people are good to lend vehicles to, your son obviously is not. if i did that to my fathers car i would fix it, and fix it quickly.

on the flip side, you can remove the grill easily and it should massage back to shape, possibly with a heat gun or hairdryer. it won't be mint but will be good enough not to notice from 3 feet away.

^^^^^+1 on what "rob342" says about it being your son's problem to pay for the repairs. It sounds like they didn't exchange personal information, so you now can't go back to the person that hit the PT and make them pay for repairs. I would have at the least taken some quick pictures, to include the license plate of the other vehicle, that way I could still track down the other person.

Yeah, ordinarily, I'd do that. BUT he's currently unemployed and has no money. The Amazon job was just part time and they cut all of the part timers last week. It's too damned hot today to fool with. We're supposed to get to 86 with the humidity in the 75% range too. Fortunately, we're supposed to have a front come through tonight and tomorrow and expected high on Saturday is ony 63. I'm going to pull it all apart then and see what I can do with it. I just hope one of my neighbors has a sledge hammer because I think I'm going to have to knock the bumper support down some in order to get the grille out now. Oh well, it'll give me something to do, right?

Those cracks in the rungs of pic 2 might break off when you try to bend those back.
Good Luck

Well, I'm a stubborn old fart with time on my hands, so I'll get into it Saturday morning and see what I can do. If I can't repair the chrome grille, I'll just leave it the way it is and if I ever get the money to go to the junkyard again, I'll look for another one. Hopefully even find the lower to go with it!
