Question Cruise Control Issue

Hello All,

I recently purchased a 2001 Limited edition 5 speed model with 70k miles for my son to drive to college. Seems like a solid car but the only issue is we can't get the cruise to work. Ive looked over the forum to try and diagnosed but so far no luck.

Symptoms: Cruse control does nothing. No light

Tried so far: Checked fuse #10, fuse good, car won't run without it.
Checked OBD, no codes
Disconnected battery to reset computer, no change
Opened back of CC pod to ensure plunger is engaging blue button

I am wondering if the ECM is bad, but shouldn't that throw a code ?

Any ideas ? Thanks

Probably a stupid question, but have you checked the connector under the hood and tried to pull a vacuum on the servo?

Yes on the connector. No on the servo. Would that prevent the light from coming on ? I have a vacuum pump, is that how you test the servo ?

I don't think the servo being defective would prevent the light from coming on. It sounds more electrical. Follow Santa's advice. IF you pull the vacuum line off to put suction on the servo, be careful. They get brittle and break rather easily. Until you check the electrical and either confirm it or rule it out, don't fool with the servo.

take out the airbag, remove cruise switch and test for five volts at the speed select switch, and a path to ground for the ground wire.
