Talking Would Buy Again

It is a shame that Chrysler gave up on the PT. We have an '06 and would buy another in a heartbeat if they were still produced. I would imagine that most if not all of the minor bugs would have been worked out and hopefully, a little more oomph under the hood would be nice without going to a snail.

My first experience with the PT came in 2004 when we rented one for vacation. I was impressed with how comfortable the car was and I could drive for hours without fatigue.

The next year, we rented another for vacation and that one had the turbo and leather seats. Once again, I was really impressed with the fact that I could drive for hours and still be able to walk again after getting out.

Based on those experiences, I bought a new 2006 for my wife. She loves the car. However, the first time I drove it, I thought, WTF did they do to the seats? Gone was the support and comfort I had experienced in the past with the rentals. Fortunately for me, I rarely drive it since I have a Ram pickup.

Research turned up the fact that some owners of 2006 and newer were buying earlier seats from wrecking yards or ordering older seats from a dealer. I would guess that redesigning the seats was a cost related issue. Still in all, it is a great little car that has served us well with few repairs.

Chrysler redesigned the interior and exterior on the 2006+ models. That's why the difference between your rented 2004 and the one you bought in 2006. The power train is the same but the electrical system was changed. The Turbo models should give you all the power you need but you didn't say if the one you bought was a Turbo on N/A.

Me too, my footer says it all. As I watch her age I worry about the day where the upkeep is no longer economical, especially up here where the road salt eventually murders older cars.
'03 GT Blue/ autostick.. 160,000KM ( That's 100,000miles for y'all South of the border ) All the options, the heated leather is a must up here in Canada, Love the solid heavy duty feel and obvious Torque.. The Turbo is strong, fast and reliable.. People that don't understand the love of a PT, probably don't deserve to.
