Default Stalled while driving, Starter won't turn over.

1st... I want to say how much I appreciate this board... it is great!
2nd...My problem is now resolved but I wanted to post here with the following.

- After may searches on this board, and the Net in general, I found many topics that more or less matched the title of this one....
- The suggestions ranged from changing a 15amp fuse, to checking for a red wire on the starter and what seems a more or less vast number of possible causes....many of them were kind of scary!
- In one of my searches on the Internet I found a short post by a user of a different forum... the first post matched my title... car just stopped, all lights, windows... etc. etc. etc... worked fine... the car just died and the starter would not turn over.
- In that users second post he/she mentioned the problem was found... and it was a blown 20amp fuse found in the fuse box behind the air cleaner.
- So this morning I went to our local McDonald's (where I had to leave my car over-night) and checked all the 20amp fuses in the fuse box... and sure enough one of them had blown... sorry... don't remember what the label was for that fuse.
- So, a friend drove me to the local parts store and I purchased 2 fuses (1 spare) and put the new one it... sure enough... the car fired right up.

My car and the above mentioned users car are both 2004 PT's (non turbo).

...Anyway, if this topic is in the wrong place ... Mods... please move it. I posted here in case others are having the same issues... and I can't understand why the manufacture would design something that way... maybe that's why I've been looking for a 70's 4/4, standard trans pickup...to use... keep it simple!!!!

Thanks for the post. It's good information and I'm sure will help someone else down the road.
