Default Looking to buy one for my daughter

I'm looking at different cars for my 17 yr old daughter and she likes the PT's. I found a few on Craigslsit and one is an 06 with 83k on it. The seller told me today that is has three codes:
P0344
P0700
P0882

From what I can tell. the 0334 could be a PITA and the 0700 could be several things as the car is a 2006. The 0882, well, I didn't even look further. He's asking a fair price, if the car were 100%, but from what I'm looking at, it's going to be anything except a "turn-key" setup. Am I wrong? Should I look into this more? Thanks!

Jason

Besides the issues it presently has, if the timing belt work hasn't been done, it will soon need to be, and you should consider $1000-$1500 in your negotiations to cover that expense.

Thank you. He tried to play them off as no big issues but I had to explain what Limp Mode was and that any auto shop could pull the codes for free. As little as he knows and then tries to tell me it's just a cheap fix, I'm looking for something else. I changed the transfer case in my Durango and did a rear axle swap in it. I'm not a mechanic by trade, but I am able to figure out, and fix, my issues with my Jaguars...

I'm going to search more tomorrow...

R,
Jason

Ragman, I just put my 06 PT in the shop with the two tranny codes that
you have. It is an 06 GT with only 70 thous. miles. They are checking why the
light comes on. and it has gone into limp mode a few times.
The Trans shop called me today and said,
they tried the connections under the batt.
for corrosion it was ok.
He is going to check farther tomorrow. I will post it if I get it fixed.

Good luck, I have plenty of faith in the durability of the PT, once maintenance is seen to properly you will be a hero with her, providing a truly unique and satisfying skate !

Thanks VL. I wasn't a fan of the Gen 1 Durango's in 96 when they came out and I bought a 99 in 01. The PT isn't my style, but it is very much "her" and I wasn't surprised when she said it was top on her list. Thanks for the drop-in from warm, sunny, Virginia Beach!

Cheers,
Ragman

Jason
Jason,
To be blunt (I am known for that) if you are asking about these codes than pass on that PT Cruiser....

There are plenty of other PT Cruiser to choose from.

Hi,
I was asking and I have passed on this one. Plus, I learned that he still has a note on it. I'm looking for clean title. Thanks!!

Jason
How many cars does she need.?
.
I kid you.....
.
I don't know if I should be commenting on any thread here.?
Not a PTC owner (yet)

Did you say your kept a couple of jaguar's running.?
Shagdelic....YA,BABY.
U might not think you are but if you can keep a jaguar road worthy
that there takes special set of skill's.!
(little fun fact) up till 1986 XJ6 Series 3
Everyone in the factory that built that car would sign the drivers rear door card

I too looking for Pt cruiser Have made a couple of tries to buy.
and one note on a windshield
Both had issues and both owners were so proud of there Pt cruiser
even with issues would not budge on the price.

I guess I'm very picky in my selection
with a budget of 4G
( I would step up a little more for the right car)

After pouring over the forum last few weeks

I'm after a 03-05 Turbo AT coupe dark color
with less then 90,000 and a service record.
Timing belt/Water pump would be a plus

I wish you good luck.
If you do purchase a PTC please post pic and info
Thanks ....W
