Default Flywheel or Flex plate?

Please, help. I'm so confused. I have good friends on both sides telling me opposite things, a seller telling me it's a flywheel and a mechanic telling me it's a flex plate.

Help!

I hope I did this right...lol

It can be called either one. Technically this is called a flex plate on our automatic.

it's not the same thing you weirdos

this is the flex plate:

this is the flywheel(top right):

in a manual transmission equipped PT, the flywheel bolts to the flex plate instead of the crankshaft. it's an oddball design that makes the same engine and flexplate work with either a manual or automatic trans.

if your car is automatic you have a flexplate
f your car is manual you have both.

8 bolt holes in the center and you're talking about the flex plate.
