Default Brake Lights Stay On

Brake and Third lights stay on with engine off and key off the ignition.
Took Brake Light Switch off: Brake and third light now off of course.

Can't find an elec schematic for switch but these pins (switch disconnected) have continuity:
Pink/Blue line and White/Gold the rest do not.

Help, this wife's car!

The lever on the side of the new brake switch should not be turned until after the new switch is installed.

What year is the PT Cruiser?

Has any repairs been done to it lately?

I have put in a new switch and now stop lights go on and off as normal.
Have checked out the old switch as per Service Manual, see attachment and it works correctly. But have decided to change the switch anyway.

Still I don't know how power was transmitted with three separate switches inside and the plunger/selector is plastic. Don't see a relay in the circuit.
Attached photos how clean/pristine inside; nothing broken either.

I believe: Please I'm no master at this so correct me if I'm wrong
1 is for brake lights
1 is for cruise shut down
1 is third brake light through computer

Turning the little lever after the brake switch is install sets the adjustment for the plunger to the brake pedal.

If your a good tinkerer you can take the brake switch apart study it and reset it to be used again. I've done it. But they cost only $10.00

Not to hijack, but how hard do you think it would be to rig up one of those switches to the clutch to cancel the cruise when the clutch is depressed? The highest my car has every revved was when I put it in neutral with the cruise on. Even floorboarding the clutch won't cancel it.

Worse, my other cars with cruise all do cancel with the clutch. Guess this is just dreaming because there are about 44 other items to correct before I start making improvements.

The wiring schematic shows a PK/DB wire coming from the battery to Fuse #12 to the brake switch on page 8W-30-27 from the shop manual. This gives the brake switch a constant 12 volts.
