Default TCM question/ P0700

Hi all, new to the forum so if my question is redundant I appologize.

Is there a video somewhere where I can see the replacement of a TCM?

Tranny is bucking like crazy on Moms 2001. Code has come up as P0700. That module was replaced in June of 2014.....out of warranty. I tend to enjoy working on this stuff myself (Jeep Owner) so was wondering if there is a link to a video of replacing the TCM. Thanks in advance.

Have you considered taking the PT Cruiser to an transmission repair shop where some will give you the transmission codes so you will have a better idea of what is wrong with it?

Went to set up diagnostic for Monday at the dealership where it was last fixed in early June 2014. Asked for the invoice which was without a doubt the same problem. Milage was 64,501 now at 71,456...Their warranty was one year 12,000. Paid $1,200 for module and solenoid.......less than two years and 8,000 miles later is there anything I can do if it comes back as that module again (it will)

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your input.....The one independent shop would not do that....They were pretty crappy with my elderly father on his car several years ago so it didn't surprise me.

Diagnostics came back as the Transmission Solenoid Pack (which was replaced with the TCM in 2014) I'll suck it up and pay the cash.....

Thanks

I wouldn't pay for a new one first. I'd remove the old one, clean it and the connector going to it, put a new gasket on and try it out. A LOT of times, it's just that the frigging connector is loose on them. At least check that first. It may save you some money. There are a lot of unscrupulous "technicians" in the business. Tell you something needs replacing and then tighten or clean something and charge you for something they never replaced. On the rare occasion I've had to use a shop, I ALWAYS demand the old part back. I will inspect every part I pay for for defects. Yeah, I'm that anal.

Drove about twenty feet in the dealer parking lot and no light but the tranny slipped. Drove down to the Supermarket next door while kept slipping. After shopping turned on the car and engine light came on (same code) wouldn't shift all the way home. Brought it back that day......haven't heard anything from them since then.

Will call tmw.
