Default Headgaskets in PT Turbos

common or no?

I noticed my coolant every now and then is low.... but there's no leaks anywhere I can find.... and along with this engine misfire code I'm stumped.....

I've replaced the plugs, wires and the coilpack and I'm STILL getting P0300/P0304 engine misfire CEL codes. But the CEL will flash for a few seconds and then bugger off (no code), do this for a few days and then the light will stay on until I clear it.

Starting to want to bang my head against a wall......

Yeh. Just finished about three minutes ago. Tech says it's the head gasket.

Shitballs.

If it's the head gasket, you might want to go ahead & replace the water pump & timing belt while it's apart.
I did the same about 2 years ago.

One other place to look at is the cooling pipe to the turbo. Mine has a piece of rubber hose running up to the turbo, midway. It split a few months ago and I had a hell of a time finding that leak and then fixing it. I just would like to know why the engineers put a piece of rubber hose between two metal pipes next to the exhaust! STUPID, STUPID, STUPID. It's a pain in the neck to get up under it and change it, but if you have access to a lift, it would be a 5-10 minute job. Check that before you let someone charge you for a head gasket replacement you may not need. The car has to be running in order for you to find it. At least mine did. Once it was under pressure, the water spewed out. Had a split about two inches long in it and the dang thing is only about five inches long, overall.

Thanks for the advice.

I'm not a happy camper right now, heh.

In fact when I get home I will be drinking copious amounts of beer.

There is also small formed hose located behind the air charge hose near the battery. It connects the turbo coolant tubing to the heater hose tubing.
Both me and my son had coolant leak and both of us were lucky enough to have the hose described above fail near to home so didn't burn up his 03 GT or my 03 Dream. My hose had a small slit in it which became a big split. My sons was just a big split.
If you can't find a formed hose, we used a longer straight length to make the bend without kinking.
