Default Hot Air Only, No AC

I have a 2005 PT Convertible GT.

I only get HOT air from system. I checked and the H.P. line from teh engine compartment into the cabin is COLD, so it must be with the control valve not closing when twisting temp knob.

Looking for a diagram to trouble shoot and idea on fix. When twisting knob still feels like stuff is moving.

Ideas?? Thanks

Welcome to the forum.

I would suggest you introduce yourself to the forum.

Has there been any repairs done or other problems prior to the A/C issue?

Hi All,

I have a 2005 PT Cruiser Convertible GT. I purchased brand new in April 2004. I have had very little issue over the 95000 miles. I have had the brakes replaced a couple of years ago along with ball joint/control arm. About 5 years ago I had the front bearing replaced. Other than regular maintenance, that's is.

Oh and wheels and tires. For some reason the rear tires wear a bit excessively when towed on a dolly behind my motorhome, and lets add about 70000 miles on the dolly. Front up, rear dragging on the dolly. It summers in MA and winters in FL

There has been no work to engine, transmission or ventilation systems.

I guess until now.

I had a similiar problem with my 98 neon. No cold air and had no previous problems with the A/C. I bought a can of freon at the big box store and serviced it up. For what ever reason it was low. I had no clue how it got low, but after servicing it, believe it or not, i never had another issue with the a/c (had it atleast another 5 years). For 15-20 bucks, might be worth a shot for you as well.
