Default Rain rain go away

Why does my car sound like a whiney kitty ever since I had the timing belt changed out. As soon as the belts get wet it whines for days. I am sure this is normal but man is it embarrassing.

Most likely the alternator belt is loose. & just needs tightening.

Had everything checked out and tightened with the shop.

Did it help? If not, change the belt and perhaps the belt tensioner. Did the shop listen to it and make a determination?

A common issue is some nugget getting oily/ greasy hands on the belt and pulleys when they fit it. It squeaks like mad till you either clean it all or burn it off over the next 6 months. Usually a good clean of both belt and pulley's will quieten it back down

Now that I just re-read the op's post, was it just a timing belt, or a complete timing belt kit that was fitted? I ask because when the old tensioner wears in one position, it often becomes noisy when moved to a slightly different position when the new belt is tensioned with it.

I asked them to tighten the kit.

Hopefully it's not the timing belt but the accessory drive belt that everyone seems to be talking about. That's an easier fix.
