I'm glad to see some discussion on this post. Although I'm only at 141K, my goal is to make my PT hit 200K. At about 15K a year, it appears I have about 4 more years to go. I'm hoping my switch to Mobil 1 oil and filter every 7K (mostly highway miles, DIY oil changes) when I got it and general maintenance will help me get there someday. Crossing my fingers for no more big repairs because the PT is such a fun car to drive.

I just gave my 2001 Cruiser which I ordered in September 2000 and picked up in January 2001 to my daughter who lives in Baltimore over Labor Day 2016. It is her daily drive. It had just 102K miles on it. Given that I hadn't done something stupid to run down the battery, it has never failed to start.

It had flames and wooden-look side panels with trim both of which I put on when it was about 8 months old.

Searching for a picture to post here.

I still have an '01. It was my dad's and once he passed away, I took it over. It has been a great car and has 140k.

I still have my 01 and 02 Limited editions. As long as you keep up on maintenance and can do the work your self, they literally cost peanuts to operate.

Theres tones of 01's and up here in Las Vegas, the biggest problem with them is the amount of labor it takes to replace common parts that wear out.

My 2001 2.0 classic edition has 75000 on the clock and it drives like a new car. There is absolutely no rust anywhere and everything works as it should.
I have only owned it for about three months but I am really pleased and impressed that at sixteen years old it still looks as good as new
here is a recent photo.

Mine is a 2001 infernal red limited that I bought new in 2001, it only has 55,000 original miles and still looks good. I haven't done anything to it except for fixing what broke and it has been troublesome except the motor runs well and the body has held up through our new england winters. It has been an expensive car to have fixed but is comfortable to drive and has great storage for its size, mine is a 5 speed and gives pretty good gas mileage. The disapointing parts are the shifter bushings that crumpled, the front stru s that broke a coil sprig, the window switch block that failed, the engine cradle that rotted out with bad ball joits and the rear disc parking brake shoes that fell apart due to rusted out shoe retainer pins taking the backing plates with them. Lets see, I think thats about it , but I still love the car but I guess its time to go back to Ford.

Mine is a 2001. Rust on the wheels was my big issue. And 1 blown headgasket but only due to a coolant valve breaking and caused overheating.

Other than this, it has held really well.

Welcome to the forum

You should go to the New Members section and create your own thread and tell us a little about yourself and your PT and post some pics of your PT when you get a chance.

And since you are the second owner, you can join the Chrysler High Miler club and get a free metal license plate frame for your PT.
