Default Won't start, HELP

I posted a question before.

The cruiser doesn't start sometimes. There is only one single click when I turn the key.
I try to turn the key again and again, it will start after 2-3 trials, finally

But today, it did not start, and there is no single click sound anymore.

I turned the key , nothing happened.

When my wife turned the key, I heard faint clicks from the relay, so I assumed the switch is good, there is power from switch to the starter relay.

But there is no single click from the starter anymore.

Any suggestion?

Thanks

How many miles on your PT?

How old is the Battery?
Are the battery terminals clean?

Just a guess but it sounds like the starter to me since it would start after several cycles of the key.

110K miles.
the battery is just above 2 years old.
The terminals are clean.
This 'one single click issue' occurs more frequently when it is hot outside.

When I turned the key, the dashboard is not dimming.

It would help to know what year the PT Cruiser is?

I would suggest checking the starter relay.

2006 touring.

When I turned the key, this is clicks in the relay, so I think it is working.
But I will tow it to the mechanics to get it checked.

First thing you should do is have a battery load test done with the battery in the PT Cruiser.

If that checks out good then you need to check the battery cables on both ends. Make sure all cables are making good connection.

If you don't find any problems there then I need to know what is the manufacturing date is on your drivers side door. You might have a TIPM on your PT Cruiser that might be causing the problem if the starter is working properly but we need to rule everything else out first including the starter.

If you turn on your headlights and try starting it does it go dim? If you have a voltmeter check and see what the voltage is on the battery when you are trying to start it.

Is your engine light on? If so what are the engine trouble codes?

He said he has an '06 Touring, you mean there are some '06's that don't have the TIPM, but are made like the Gen1 (pre-CANbus)?

Just get back from mechanic shop.

The relay and starter are good.

The issue is the voltage in the end of the relay.
When key is off, it is 0 v, when key is turned to on , it is only 6V, it should be 12V?

I connect that end directly to positive end of battery, it starts successfully.

The mechanic has no idea what is wrong, he said might be the ignition module.

When I pull out the key, that relay end remains 6V for 10 sec
, then read 0v, so. I guess it is not connection issue, more like a capacity problem.
Any thoughts?

We need to find out if your PT Cruiser has the TIPM.
