Default Separate Fog Light Switch Mod.

Not sure where to put this post so here it is.

I've got this 05 Conv with factory fog lights. I've replaced the Multifunction Switch to get them working correctly.

But after seeing several of the posts about 'repairing' the fog light function of the multifunction switch I can't help but think it's a really hokey design to start with and I just don't want to rely on that for the Fog Light Function.

I'm thinking of just a toggle switch that could be hooked into the fuse box to bypass the MFS. by using power from the park lights for the fog light switch has anyone done this?

Thinking of buying a trac control switch maybe and using it as the toggle switch.

Yes, it's been done before. If you do a search on Google for "PT Cruiser alternate fog light switch" or other terms, there will be plenty to read. Here's one...

foglights

I followed the tips given by Sanatanadharma and bypassed the MFS on my 01 LE. I came out of the fuse panel, added a relay, installed a rocker switch in the dash were the rear wiper and rear defroster switches. I pulled the terminal going from the MFS out to the dash indicator and fog lights and connected it to the rocker. I now can use the fog lights independent of the park/headlights. I like to use them as daytime running lights.
