Question headlight bulbs?

What do you like?

Are the Sylvania zXe still the preferred bulbs?

how about Hella Optilux bulbs?

I haven't used the others, but I'm a fan of silverstars. They're bright and do the job and don't burn out quickly.

i am a fan of LED headlights. Best I've ever had in my 05 PT. Totally satisfied, will be putting them in all my rides in the future.

What I like about them is that they are very white, bright and not too hot. I've tried others and they either ended up too yellow or they melted the housings to some degree. On that same note, I recently melted some holes right through my Charger's fog light assemblies with some Nokya bulbs.

One thing you have to be careful of is actually getting the ZXE bulbs when you order them. The photo in your link is NOT of 9006XS ZXE bulbs. Real ones have silvered ends on them. I believe the ones in the photo are 9005XS bulbs or a counterfeit version of them. Here's what they should look like:

https://www.amazon.com/SYLVANIA-Silv...YLVANIA+9006XS

Also, I once got a set I bought from eBay and they were indeed ZXE bulbs but were the regular 9006 rather than the straight socket 9006XS even though they were in a 9006XS box. But I'm actually about to use those with some adapter harnesses I hope.

So if it was me, I'd buy the ZXE bulbs but I would buy them off of Amazon and avoid eBay for these. They cost $5 to $10 more, but at least you get what you order.

Here's the high beams I just ordered:

PS: For the fog lights on my convertible, I'm about to try some LED bulbs for the first time. I will do a write about that in my project thread.

I was just using the links as ideas of what I was looking at... I certainly wouldn't buy headlights that were not even in proper packaging. Who knows how much they have been handled. But I definitely understand about making sure you get what you are paying for!

Any ideas why the Hella Optilux are for off-road use only? They seem to be the same wattage 55 for low beam and 65 for high beam. They also look to have the painted shield on the tips too... I get that the higher output ones might not be 'legal'.
