Default Gas Prices Going Up

I was just wondering what's happening with gas prices in other areas. Since Saturday and yesterday, gas prices jumped 25 cents per gallon here. Anyone know what the hell is going on? I usually get my gas at the Murphy station by the local Walmart. Saturday it was $1.949 for regular unleaded. Yesterday it was $2.199. Really? Labor Day isn't here yet, or I would attribute it to the normal price gouging for a holiday. Any ideas or is it just here locally that people are getting screwed?

Gas prices in NY are typically high due to our wonderful taxes, regular blend has been $2.33 most of summer until last 3 weeks around $2.20 ($2.90 for premium steady thru summer). If I had to guess hikes in regional areas that then spread to rest of country are associated with seasonal driving blends of gas, crude oil pricing & futures, and weather related disasters. The flooding in the south can probably be attributed to the SE going up first, will impact other areas soon, along with the upcoming Labor Day holiday. Just my $.02.....

Man, I watch the national news every night and didn't hear anything about that. Last I heard was that gas prices were expected to be around $2.00 per gallon for the rest of the year. With the Saudis increasing production, the price hike makes no sense at all. It SHOULD fall with the surplus of crude being exported from Saudi Arabia and imported here. Which still pisses me off considering we have trillions of gallons of oil available in the South Dakota area.

Oil price dropped $1 this morning, so maybe gas will go back down.

My redhead had seen in Saturday's paper that gas prices were going up an average of 25 in the next week. I don't remember the reason. I ran out and fueled up the Cruiser and 5 gallon can for the mowers. Fuel at Sam's club was $1.84 on Saturday and up to $1.91 on Monday. I haven't paid attention since then.

Talking about 'getting screwed' ....For the litre equivalent of 1 US gallon, I currently pay 4.315 Canadian Dollar which equals 3.34 US Dollars... And it was almost 20 percent higher than that, back in the wintertime

I read last week that oil prices went over $40 a barrel and it was speculation because forecaster are predicting snowy winter.
