I would have to ask what holds them in the cable end and what holds the shifting pin in the bushing?

The rubber and urethane ones rely on the rubber to give and snap into place. I'm not seeing how that would work with aluminum.

the pros IMO are the crispness of how the shifter would feel.

on the flip side,

they may transmit extra vibration through the shifter, possibly to the point it'll rattle. if you shift like a you're speedracer, you'll cause more wear on the parts in the trans. this means the bronze bushings in the trans housing that likely already leak will wear quicker, you may wear out the shift fork pads quicker, you may even break a shift fork, or the plastic ends off the shift cables.

i used the stock bushings and had no problem shifting with my foot firmly pinned to the floor. a few times i even managed to rip the knob off the shifter yanking it into second. once i even managed to throw the shift knob into the cargo area.

When I had to replace mine I also was concerned about the wear transfering to a more expensive part so stayed with the OEM.
