You need to find out if the mechanic used ATF+4 fluid and changed the filter too.
I just replace a automatic (2007) and picked one up for $200.00 (Self install)
Is your engine service light on?

I agree with Joe. If the shop you used didn't put ATF+4 in it, then they screwed it and you. Where are you located? Yours appears to be in pretty good shape.

If there was a delay in shifting and am mechanic changed the fluid for hopes and dreams, it would be pretty mean to blame the problem on the fluid change instead of prior abuse and lack of maintenance, no?

We just had a big discussion on another forum about how people neglect their trans maintenance, change the fluid expecting miracles, and then blame that when it takes a dump.

Double checked with valvoline on if they used ATF+4 fluid they said they did , asked if they also changed the filter they said no

Service engine light is not on. Sent her to get new tires at Firestone today they put a note on there that transmission is weak and when put in drive rolls back alittle.

I don't know if any repair shop that would change the transmission oil but not the transmission filter. I would recommend replacing the filter and see if that helps.

Maybe since it wasn't a repair shop it was a valvoline instant oil change place I had the transmission fluid service done

A service center just told me that PT requires tranny to be rebuilt in order to change filter can't be serviced seperate, says they send rebuilds out to Seperate place

ok. never go to that service center. ever. the filter is designed to be changed by anyone who can turn a door knob.
any how, it might be worth another fluid and filter change- if the car is paid for...I'm assuming the shop just sucked all the oil out of the dip stick tube then?
one thing is fact for you. try another shop.

Yes again I had the transmission fluid service done at a valvoline instant oil change place they aren't a repair place, they just offer a $150 suck out the oil from dipstick tube while you sit in your car then they pump new fluid in it... now the repair shop I called that told me the filter can't be changed they haven't done anything with the trans I just was calling them to see.

What I'm thinking of doing is going to a local transmission repair place just to get it checked and see what they say. She's driveable right now just the slipping is a concern
