Default Placing rear jack stands

Hello,

I have a quick question. I plan to replace the rear rotors and pads in my PT soon. Is it safe to lift the rear up with a floor jack by lifting in the center of the axle and place jackstands underneath both sides of the axle?

Thanks

Use a board on the floor jack to spread the wieght and you will be fine.

Goes on the pinch welds where the tire jack would go. They say not to put it on the axle but some say if it hols up the car it will work. I try to play safe.

On the edge of one of the doors is a label, similar to this one, with the lift points:

It is really hard to place a floor jack on the twist beam axle. The housing of the twist beam can easily support the complete weight of the PT Cruiser.

The previous response diagram is basically for changing tire/wheel on a single axle position and also showing chassis support area for a shop or general 2/4 point vertical lift.

I did it last year when I replaced my rear brakes without any problems.

Yep, floorjack under center of axle and stands at each end of axle worked for me.

My biggest problem was that my jack stands were too big. If I tried to jack one side, both wheels would be coming off the ground before I could slip one under there. I got a little mini-set and it has been much nicer. I guess that my other cars are a bit heavier and longer.
