Default Performance upgrade Sticky

Is there a sticky anywhere with performance/HP upgrades from cheap to expensive? Some of the forums I belong to have a sticky for newbs so the question doesn't get asked 1000 times.

This should be answered on a member by member basis anyway!

Check these 2 threads out and then return with specific questions.

I appreciate the reply, I really do but neither of the links provide any answers. I am looking for something that provides performance upgrades like removing the stock airbox to running NOS.

Yeah, those disclaimers and warnings aren't very helpful.

Normally on this forum, we've been giving more tailored advice. If you will tell us more about your PT and what direction you want to take it, we can likely give you some good ideas.

I agree with my brothers. Ask specific questions with specific goals. The other site has the kind of mod bible that you are talking about, but I think much of it is so outdated that the advice isn't much better than the disclaimers.

Does anyone read the complete responses anymore?

And the thread about adding performance is meant so that when a new or old member decide to do performance upgrades they will know at least in part how to start to think about the plan! This way when other members are suggesting upgrades we will already know that the vehicle has been "sounded" before advises performance upgrades! Other wise the second thread seems to be very appropriate!

Maybe Im not explaining myself properly. I have never owned or modded something like these, only Ford V8's. With those you can get advice on bolt-ons aka intakes, pullies, gears, cams, AC/PS removal for HP gains. The threads provided don't discuss any of that in regards to these engines.

I was looking for something that gives ideas on adding smaller ticket items to gain HP until I can build something better.

Performance parts are the same on a flat head V-8 as a 2.4 PT Cruiser engine. The only exception is the PT has a ECU. Or the proper term PCM.

The first thing you need to do is tell us what your intentions are so we know what to start to recommend.
Other wise go to vendors and see what they offer for parts and pick from there?

FWD

Modern Performance

and $$$$
DCM
DCR - Street To Strip

You dont seem to want to talk about what you want to achieve only a bakers list of parts??
We dont even know what transmission you have????

Those Fords you mentioned as an example a small block 289/302/351c/w there are over 100+ intake manifolds available for it from many manufactures alone and maybe close to 1000 camshafts or more configurations all possible recommendations.

We can do that. But unless we know the year model, edition and if it's a turbo or not, we really can't give you the best advice. As an example, the advice for a 2001 Limited, 2004 Touring Turbo and a 2006 GT would be different. The advice is also different if you plan to race or just go quickly between stop signs on the road. You see, the easiest performance mods often have to do with how your computer is tuned and not so much with turning a wrench.

So do your part and then we can do ours. Are we talking about the 2003 GT in your footer? And if so, what to you want to accomplish both short tern and long term? Right off the bat, this makes a difference.
