head lights flicker

Hi. 2003 base. lately if you step on brake or if cooling fans kick on, headlights will dim (flicker) for just an instant. Had battery checked, ok, had alternator checked, ok. which doesn't mean could not be problem. all else seems normal.

Was a battery load test done with the battery in the PT Cruiser? Was the battery load tester adjusted to the load the battery is suppose to hold? Sometimes they just make it 400 amps for a 4 cylinder engine.

Had a similar issue. It was a weak ground

thanks, no engine lights on, also noted my fog lights have quit and in the last 2 months had to be jumped twice. the only test to battery was done at advance auto, other than those 2, starts fine.

Since you've revealed a little more information (fog lights), perhaps you have a short in your multi-function switch (MFS). It's not an uncommon problem with the PT's that have fog lights.

I am suggesting you might have a intermittent short in the fog light circuit and might be draining your battery enough to not start if enough time goes by without driving the PT Cruiser.

The amps should be no more than around .01-.05 amps max. with the ignition off.
