Dash lamp replacement: went to LED
Well, I had to replace my dash lamps again. It has been a while since I posted this guide on how to do it PT Dash Lamp Replacement so I had to read it over again. The instruments are recessed so far that the incandescent lamps don't cut it, so this time I put in cool white 6400k LED's They look awesome! Got them from superbrightleds.com. I bought the 74-CEHP3 lamps, they cost $2.49.each. They go in just like the old ones except LED's are polarized, so if they are in backwards they don't work. I got 4 out of 6 in the right way the first time. When you put the instrument cluster back in and test it, remember which ones don't light. Take the cluster back out and just take the lamp holder out, turn it 180 degrees and put it back in, you don't need to take the lamp out of the holder. Get the LED's that shine 360 degrees. I got 8 just in case I got some bad ones. (you only need 6) Well worth the effort if your eyes are getting older like mine, makes the gauges jump out. Just thought I would give everyone an update - Happy New Year!
