I have a 01 pt cruiser 2.4 non turbo automatic trans and when the radio is turned up not even halfway up the speakers will go in an out someone told me it's the head unit going bad but I'm not sure it's a aftermarket kenwood CD player and when I shut the car off the speakers make a popping sound after the key is out for a couple of mins not sure if that's common or not this is my first pt was given to me has 169k all stock was trying to see if it was worth swapping the motor to the turbo motor or not and wat is the best route on doing so like wat upgrades would be best it's a daily but if it's built it will be able to handle being a daily any help greatly appreciated

Leave the car stock, enjoy it, find a new radio and remember you can install it in your next car of you want. There's threads here about converting to turbo and everyone agrees it's cheaper and easier just to buy a GT. You can do it if you like huge projects but you won't be saving any money over just buying the turbo model

??? I guess welcome to the forum was just too much for you? That's a problem on here, too many people like to insult instead of inform!
BTW, welcome to the forum......

Welcome to the forum, 01. I had a Kenwood in a Nissan truck that I had several years ago and every time I turned it off, I got a strange sound through the speakers. It wasn't a popping sound, so to speak, but sounded more like a chirp to me. Anyway, that may just be a Kenwood thing. You could always call Crutchfield and ask one of the techs if that's a common Kenwood thing.
