Default Misterious box

Hi there!

I am new here, just bought my first PT GT last thursday. I have found a small, grey box, close to PCM, which is for sure not factory made (see pic). Till now, nobody has a clue, what could it be. Any ideas, please?

BTW, european version.

It could be an auto cutoff, but they are usually in the dash somewhere...did you buy the car from a dealer..??
Also, where is the 4th PCM plug..??

Figure out what wires it connects to. It's the only way to see exactly what it does. I too would guess it's to remotely track or kill the car, usually installed by a place that sells cars with no credit check.... And like lion says, where is the 4th pcm plug?

Other thoughs are that it is there to fix a faulty voltage regulator of o2 driver to save $$$ vs replacing the pcm

The previous owner has no idea what could it be. And in Germany, where I live, it is not really easy to find to first owner, since the registration contains only the name of the current and last owner. The box has just a date written on it (2004). The wires seem to be conected to pcm, but I will have to take a look once again.

What does it mean, that the 4th pcm plug is gone? What is it for??

Had, or have?

Could very well be due to that missing connector, or a failing pcm. I'd find the missing connector.

Check engine light went on once, the engine died, but eventually started after 3 minutes. I checked the errors, found those two, but since then, nothing happened. The check engine light is off since then.

I'll have to look for that connector, thanks!

Oooooh dear.... I found a post that may have helped you, but it seems or resident electrical expert has lost it over our election and is deleting his stuff.

Alert! - Dumb Question - PCM Connectors

I would send him a private message.
