Cool Replace cam sensor and magnet?

My girlfriend is having some problems with her 06 cruiser. Getting error code P0344. I replaced cam sensor for her and still same issue. Car starts rough and does right when put into drive. (Goes into reverse fine.) I read to only use mopar parts which I did. I'm thinking i should replace the magnet that links the with the cam sensor. Have you guys ever had this problem then replaced the magnet then it worked? Thanks guys.

Check the plug & the wiring.

Do you still get the P0344 code after changing the sensor? If so, the most likely problem is the wiring harness and/or sensor plug. As LionPT said, inspect those very closely. It may have been the issue to begin with.

Based on reports from this forum and others, the pilot magnets do go bad. But, almost all the reports are from 2001/2002 PT models that use a different magnet than your 2006. On the 2006, the most likely way a magnet goes bad is that it was removed for some reason and then the wedge-headed bolt used to hold it to the camshaft gets over-tightened during re-installation. If the magnet has never been removed before, this is likely not your problem.

wife just had this code pop-up today. Swapped the CAM sensor with another after market sensor and all is fine. This is the 3rd sensor now. Since the factory one only lasted 3 years, i opted to try an aftermarket one for half the price. It lasted five years so...i chose to go back with another aftermarket, since it lasted longer than the MOPAR! Tried to get the dorman lifetime but both part stores were out. With a wife expecting to deliver any day now I had no choice but to go with the in-stock BWD.

I buy most of my stuff from O'Reilly too. So far, no problems with anything working the way it should.
