Question Oil Change

2007 GT. Since replacing my turbo, I have used only Mobil 1 synthetic oil. It says you can go 10,000 miles. I have put on about 4,000 in 8 months. How often should I change the oil. Is 8 months too long? It still looks clean on the dip stick.

I run Mobil 1 in my Chrysler 200 and change it every 7,500 miles. 138,000 trouble free miles on it so far. If it still looks clean, don't bother changing it. And you CAN go 10,000 miles if you want to.

The manual says to change it every 6 months, regardless of mileage.
I think you will be okay, but I always keep in mind that you can never hurt anything by changing oil frequently, only by not changing it frequently enough.

All recommendation are subjective in reality.

This is the only way you can adjust how often you change your engines oil.

GREAT INVESTMENT!
Blackstone Labs

Personally I try to do the 3-5k oil change, but that's me. Oil is cheap Turbo and engine are not.

My 09 BMW/MINI FSM oil change recommendation is every 10,000 miles or 12 months
My analysis from Black Stone Labs @ 3300 miles from the last oil and filter change , thats three thousand three hundred miles, showed high levels of oil contaminations. The oil sample I sent looked the same on the engine dip stick almost clear, a light amber color as if it just came from a new and sealed motor oil bottle.

The PT Cruiser oil was replaced with Mobil-1 5W/30 and a FRAM yes FRAM oil filter and at close to 3k I had the oil analysed which showed the oil had more life left and I could possibly have gone an additional 1-3k miles.

just filled out the form for the free test kit. should be pretty funny to see my results. 92 ford... i beat the piss out of the car and haven't changed the oil in around 18 months and i likely have ~10 different types of oil in it.. 5w 10w 30 40 synthetic/syn blend/conventional.. you name it.. i was eating a quart a week

Rob you are going to fall over laughing about how bad your engine is oil wise. The analysis will show exactly how you treat your car.

Exxon recommends changing Mobil 1 at the interval recommended by your owners manual, which would be either the severe service interval (as defined by your owner's manual and driving) or normal service interval.

One of the reasons I use AMSOIL Signature Series and AMSOIL oil filter is it extends oil changes to 15,000 severe service miles (includes turbos), or 25,000 normal service miles (non turbos), or 1 year, whichever is first. Always worked for me and confirmed by used oil analysis.

It's not the miles I am concerned with. It's the months is it ok to go 12 months/ 7000 miles between oil changes?

Don't worry. I have seen oil in a motor for years. So your talking months.
