Default 2006 - loose turn signal assembly problem

A front turn signal bulb failed, and when I went to put in a new bulb, the socket assembly (bulb, washer and socket) fell out as soon as the access panel was opened, without being unscrewed. I changed the bulb and tested to see that it worked, but I was unable to screw the socket assembly into the hole in the fender; it would not catch. The bulb had never been changed before nor had the access panel ever been opened before. It appears to me that the hole the socket assembly screws into came from the factory too large (which might account for the failure of the bulb). The turn signal functions but the assembly is loose. Any suggestions for making it fast?

Are you the original owner? If not, how can you be sure what was done in the past.
I'd look at the other side and compare the two bulb sockets - maybe a tab broke off?

Is this a Non-USA car..??
You said that the flasher is part of the fender, not the headlight.
If so, there are a few posts on the forum about this, from what I remember...it's a real pain to put them back in.

Welcome to the forum. I don't know the reason that the socket is loose in the housing, but you might want to check it, the housing, and see if the bulb melted the plastic where the socket seats.

I would suggest posting pictures of the socket assembly and of the hole in the fender.
