Default Dream Cruiser Series 2

Hello everyone, haven't been on this forum for a couple of months but was wondering if someone with PT Cruiser knowledge might be able to tell me what a 2003 Dream Cruiser series 2 car might be worth? I purchased themail car this past week, it has a bad water pump, it starts and runs really good, I am going to do water pump and timing belt and am planning on keeping the car, it's a really cool little car, it has 109000 on it and has been maintainedited really well, the dash plaque says it's #1704, any information would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks ahead of time

because its a "Dream Cruiser" does not give it extra Value.
The value comes from Condition and Location and the Market.
and luck has it the market is at the bottom for Pt cruisers
look at your local Craigslist add see pt cruiser
Notice the price and see how long they have been listed( Total Day's)
that will give you a gauge what values are
Dream cruiser will not add value .Unless it's #1
#1700 is about mid run I think they made 30,000 each yr

If you answered “yes” then parts car is a really good idea.

If prices hold true to where I'm from, it's worth between $2500 and $3750 if clean and mechanically 100%. There was a pretty straight one here that recently had a $1900 asking price. But it needed a few repairs.

While I personally think the DC2 is likely the best PT made, most folks don't know and/or don't care about it's special edition status nor it's low production number. It's a just an "orange" PT Cruiser to them. And that's kind'a what sets the value.

If me, I'd do the timing belt job, add a Stage 1 PCM with larger injectors and then just enjoy it. With this stuff, it's as nice and powerful as any PT made.

How much did you pay for it? I will bet you got a good deal with a bad water pump.

The DC2 is one of the most beautiful PT's ever made

I believe it's been said on this forum that the dash # plate is no indication of sequence of manufacture, as they were just grabbed out of a box with no care taken to ensure they were in any kind of sequential order.

I really appreciate all the replies, I know that pt cruisers are mostly appealing to a certain "croud", but like them or not this car really is eye catching, even friends of mine that aren't into PT Cruisers really like the looks of this car. I purchased the car from a 70 year old woman for $1800, she was the second owner of the car, she gave me all the service records from the first owner and all the service records she kept since buying the car, I am really interested in doing some performance upgrades and enjoying the car myself! It's an original Arizona Car and has quiet a few places where the clear coat is peeling so I plan on painting it, I'm pretty excited to have it in my possession, I know there isn't very many of them around!

That the car has a five-speed manual transmission is rare enough by itself.
My understanding is that only 25% of all cruisers produced have manual transmissions.

According to some that have actually done the comparison, the SRT4 tune is very similar to the PT Cruiser GT tune for the same year. Mopar provided a year-specific dealer ad-on Stage 1 PCM for both. So the Stage 1 for the PT is likely one step beyond what the SRT4 came with.

The 2003 GT (including DC2) came with smaller pink or pink banded injectors and a less aggressive PCM tune. And the PCM is unique because it controls the variable speed radiator fan not used on later models.

The Stage 1 "kit" for the 2003 GT came with the Stage 1 PCM, larger blue banded injectors, and a Stage 1 badge. In 2004, Chrysler started using these larger injectors in all turbo PT's including both GT's and the newly introduced lower-hp turbo Limited and Touring models informally called "Turbo Lites". So the injectors out of any 2004 or newer turbo PT will mate with a 2003 Stage 1 PCM. Some say that the PCM can compensate for the smaller injectors based on readings from the oxygen sensor so the larger injectors are not needed. However, Chrysler said to use the bigger injectors and that's what the Stage 1 PCM was tuned for.

Thank you for all the information Handy_cruiser, I really appreciate it! What will a stage 1 "kit" cost me? And where do I purchased it?
