This is the best Craigslist Ad EVER!!!!

And it deserves reposting so it will be here for posterity. This is great stuff.

OK so sometime mid-March this car (term used loosely) will be on the market.

That's right folks you heard it here - this flame-striped PT-Cruiser
can be all yours for the low-low price of $1400.00 American Dollars,
cash-only please. No I won't take less. I'll crash it before I take a penny less.

This is a 2004 PT-Cruiser with a bitch'n flame paint job.

Women LOVE IT.
Children DELIGHT in seeing it.

I'm even throwing in some of those tacky Deer-Ears and wreaths people
put on around Christmas.

This car has about 76,500 miles on it and it's like new.

That's right folks it's just like a BRAND-NEW PT-Cruiser:

It's made by Chrysler after all... right here in the U.S.A. with parts
supplied from who knows where.

I won't lie to you this car is a piece of sh*t... just like the NEW ONES.

Don't believe me?... Google this piece of sh*t and read the reviews.
Sure it's a 2004 but it's just like a BRAND-NEW ONE.

Here's the facts:
First off don't drive it at night unless you know you have gas because the
gas-gauge light is gone.

Check the weather too because if it's raining you are sh*t out of luck as the
fking WindShield Wipers don't work. Well they do if you manually push down
on the stick-thing but that's it.

Pray that you don't have to use the horn you'd be better off screaming out the
window because it sounds like a dying baby duck. My daughter brings her friends
over to hear it just so they can laugh.

If you like Radiator Fluid you'll love this car it leaks like nobody's business
into the back-floorboard ( Heater Core Issue)... best just re-route the core-lines
and forget about heat. Or just make damn sure no person ( or object ) touches the
back passenger floorboard. Oh... keep some fluid handy too.

The Hot-Water-Light comes on pretty often just to remind you what a piece of
sh*t car this is, and when you go to fill it up you realize it's still pretty full.
Just a joke from Chrysler I guess to make you look stupid.

Don't make quick moves while driving it either, I swear the front-left wheel bearing
is about to snap just take it easy and slow way-down for speed bumps too.

I wouldn't keep valuables in it because the hatch-back won't lock. I keep it pretty
trashed to keep would-be theives away.

I wouldn't drive it more than 5 or 10 miles at a time, I really don't trust it at all.
(just being straight up).. but school commutes or Walmart runs are fine for it.

These issues are typical of BRAND-NEW-PT-CRUISER models so you can tell your friends you
bought a brand-new-car ... go ahead... Google these Mother-Fkers and read the
reviews... even with all the problems you are practically driving a BRAND-NEW
PT-CRUISER for next to nothing. Your friends will be green with envy.

Let's talk about what's good and what works.
It's got flames for crying out loud... FLAMES !!!

The headlights work, but they are dim as a fence post.

The seatbelts work, but really, what's the use.

The blinkers work. That's a big big plus.

The radio works.

I think it has a CD Player but I won't put one in there, would you?

The engine is actually pretty strong.

Power windows work... SCORE !!!

Tires seem pretty good.

A/C?... I don't know haven't tried it. Kinda scared to.

Got kids that are of driving age?
They wouldn't be caught dead in this thing, so they'll never ask for the keys!!!

If you like to play tricks, take a 2-3 day drive to Memphis and leave it running
in some ghetto parking lot and laugh like hell when some clown steals it...
the joke will be on him!!

PS: I just sent the guy an email and told him that he should sign up here and list his car for sale.

Is this true? I have never seen a definitive answer on what the rear passenger floor water is from. I thought it was from the sunroof drains. My car has done that twice over the course of 5 years and I am pretty sure both times it was right after I washed it.

Of course now I have a heater core issue (the car is not worth paying to have it done and dreading changing it out), but I think it would happen more consistently and I don't see how the water would end up in the back right floorboard instead of the front as is traditional.

Wow, too bad he didn't know all the Cruisers were assembled in Mexico.
All his problems have, I am sure, been investigated and solved on this Forum and are legitimate with the exception of the radiator fluid in the back floorboard.
If I had nothing to do this weekend I might consider taking a trip to Oxford and making a deal, but I do... so I'm not.
Only 20k to timing belt change and I have one in the drive waiting for that myself.
Great ad.

The folks on the PTCruiserLink.com forum had a really good laugh at your ad. It's one of the very best I've seen for a PT. You should sign up on the forum and list your car there too.

Good luck on your sale. Someone's getting a "great" car.

Sincerely,

Todd

This guy is just a bit stupid. If you never do maintenance you will have problems.
Guys have you ever had a bottle roll from the back floor to your feet? These floors are relatively flat. The antifreeze will run tho the back. Especially if it is left unattended to.

I don't imagine this guy is stupid at all. There's a certain physiology at work here.

The people in my family always bought and sold trucks and equipment no matter what else they did. But my dad decided to do this full time after my mother passed away. He'd buy a bunch of big trucks, dozers and stuff and then work on it until he had them fixed up. But sometimes, the equipment was in such bad shape it didn't make sense to fix everything that was wrong. When folks would come to look at his equipment, dad would tell them all stuff wrong with it. And sometimes he would even warn them that some of the equipment was so bad off, they likely shouldn't buy it except for spare parts.

However, time and time again buyers would just go nuts over the broke down worn out stuff that dad didn't fix up. They would keep saying "I can fix that". And would bug him into selling it to them. This kind of stuff ended up selling better than the nice equipment. Folks thought that because it was broke they were getting a bargain.

I think the same thing applies to worn out PT Cruisers. When I read the seller's very humorous ad for the first time, all that kept going through my mind was, "I can fix that". And what's worse, I believe it's car enthusiasts like us that are likely more prone to do this than others. I will bet money that some buyer is going to come along and eventually buy this $500 PT Cruiser for $1,200 and go away thinking they got a bargain and dreaming of the ways they are going to fix all the things wrong with it. And the line about the seller crashing the car before selling it for under $1,400 will just make the buyer think that getting the car for $1,200 was even more of a victory.
