Default Timing belt cost

I recently bought a 2001 liminted with 135,000 miles. The previous owner only had it for 7,000 miles. It is very clean run great but he told me he has no paper trail on timing belt replacement. He used it to tow behind a motor home and I bought it to do the same reason.I am new to where I live in Auburn ,Alabama and took it to a very qualified shop for an estimate and was quoted $915.00 for labor, belt tensioner, belt, water pump etc.Could I get some input on this cost?
I gave very little for the car with the the tow set up included.
Thanks,Tom

just did this myself
parts for T-Belt water pump three mounts $200
it's the labor
I have a lift and it took me 30 hrs
I think a good shop would do it in around 8-10hr $ 80per hr shop time
thats a good deal.....W....

If you answered “yes” then parts car is a really good idea.

That's a pretty good price. Where I live (Dallas/Ft. Worth, TX) that work at a dealership would be $1200-$1500. Along with what you have already listed to be replaced, you should add: idler pulley, center motor mount, cam and crank seals.

I agree with that price being reasonable. I inquired at a dealership here in FL, and they wanted an arm, a leg and a testicle. I had no problem with the arm and leg, but come on, let's be real!

I put the car in a reliable shop and they called me and said belt and all related parts looked new.I guess there are still some honest folks left in the world.Saved me a lot of money.

I think I have near 100k miles so when is it supposed to be done? Not sure who to even call to get a estimate in Ohio.

I did mine about 110K but my waterpump was going out so just did the timing belt at same time. I just called around and asked pricing and asked friends and coworkers about recommendations.

I only have 62k miles. But the car is 10 yrs old. Would it be to wait on timing belt, or should I have it changed because of age?
