ALL T-350's are interchangeable, hydraulic bellhousings started in '01.
You can swap the bellhousing's back and forth; you should check differential
rolling torque (preload) if you do this.
Steel quality increased in ~ '01, but older T-350's would handle IMMENSE
torque, so don't worry about this.
There were nominal changes in 2d gear ratio with the newer trans, 2d
was slightly steeper.
there's two 5th gear ratio's, .81 (aka the 'ACR' ratio) and .72
These transmissions are CHEAP, and I mean CHEAP. $75-$250
They are EZ to work on, and reliable.
Differential, per se, needs two 'differential saver tabs' (Newer models
have these installed) and are ~ $3 each. Shift fork will sometimes wear,
but don't they all ...
And of course, boogers.
Here's a simple primer from our Neon factory rep genius (knows more than God!);

Right now I have a t-350 hydraulic bellhousing (4668697AC), it'll have differential saver tabs installed.
It has the .81 final drive, so OTG is STEEP. It'll likely go closer to top range.
I'm in Minneapolis.
