Hello,
I found 2009 PT base for $6k with 55k only, it does come with manual trans so not sure if this drops the price, what do you guys think if its a good deal or so to chase that deal and drive their to take a look, its quite far from me so i want to hear some opinion before getting into driving ![]() Any suggestions would be more than welcome |

Personally, I think the price is too high. I'd suggest offering $4,500 to MAYBE $5,000 if it's in excellent condition. The manual transmission might actually get you a little better gas mileage than the automatic. I wouldn't mind having a manual shift, if I ever get another one. Make sure you check out the front suspension, like the ball joints and lower control arms. You'll also want to hav a look at the motor mounts, aka upper and lower torque strut mounts. If the lower one has cracks in it, you'll want to make sure they fix that and center the engine.

I just noticed the price is in your post, thanks to Chuzz. I agree, too high.

Welcome to the forum
The price of any car has more to do with the area and not necessarily what forums think they are worth. We on model specific forum tend to know more about the platforms we talk about so naturally the cast of most are lower then what other none regular forum members find. BTW PT Cruisers sell for an insane amount here in Northern Ca. The price you posted is within reason for this area.

That's pretty overpriced. According to Kelly Blue Book for Northern California (somewhere near Sacramento), that would be a $4,000 car at best if in excellent condition. And NADA puts the price at a max of around $4,500.00, again if the car's perfect in every way. You could add a little extra for factory alloy rims, leather trim and stuff like that. $6,000 sounds more like one of those in-house financing rip-off prices. Of course, the seller might come way down with negotiations. If me, I'd price it out myself first on Kelly and NADA. That's all a bank would loan and all an insurance company would likely pay if the car gets totaled. After I did that, I'd search your local Craigslist for a few weeks to get a better handle on what these cars are worth in your area. ![]() PS: That car is worth around $4,000 here in Arkansas as well and we have no smog testing. So prices in your area are not that different. At least not on an 8 year old PT Cruiser. ![]()

Stop trying sooooo hard to keep proving things I post are inaccurate. ![]()

That's a $4,500 car at best, even near Sacramento according to Kelly and NADA. However, it all really depends on what you want this PT for. If you just want basic transportation, and if the seller is offering some kind of great warranty, then paying a little more might be okay. But for anything else, this is just a base model PT with a manual transmission. All that's going for it is the low mileage which will soon be gone if you drive much. It's also already 8 years old. If me, I'd look for something better and more in line with the book value. ![]() ![]()
