Default i NEED A REFESHER COURSE ON REMOVING PASSANGER SEAT BOTTOM

The time has come to face reality. SOOO BIG's ashamed of the condition of his passenger seat. It's partly my fault because I swapped seat bases a few years ago as this nasty passenger seat base was originally the driver's seat base. I gained a little time but it's finally showing its age!

I'd actually written an instructional to do a swap out of PT seat bases (see attached) but in the instruction I see I did the critical Russian Roulette routine with the air bag disconnect and reconnect. This time I"d rather not take the whole seat out, just the seat base of the passenger seat and take it for repair by a reliable local upholsterer. The upholsterer indicated he doesn't like to unhook air bag connections as model to model there's a lot of latitude in the "how to". I imagine he'd just remove the seat bottom without disconnecting the air bags, so I should be able to do it. I may actually get a better cost for the upholstery repair if I just deliver the seat bottom.

My memory doesn't serve me as well so I don't remember why I took the seats out of the car. It might have been during the cold of winter. A good enough reason. So I could work on them indoors. Maybe I discovered there wasn't enough wiggle room and they had to come out. I hope not!

Even though my attached instructions will work for a much younger, nimbler PTer I'd rather, in the fine weather of spring down here in Florida, just take out the seat bottom for upholstery repair and not disconnect the air bags. Thus my request for critical "how to" instructions, without disconnecting the air bags, written in the language a geezer can understand.

Although my attached instruction will help as a guide for others on that seat bottom swap, I'd rather not remove that whole passenger seat and disconnect the air bags if possible, just the bottom.

As a hoped for alternative, perhaps a PTer has a very good seat bottom for less than the repair cost. The color and year, as per SOOO BIG's build sheet: 2005 CDEP Premium Two-Tone Seat accents, -FL Taupe/pearl Beige. Passenger or drivers side'll do. Just the seat bottom shouldn't be that much to ship. PM me or @ priceyoungman@hotmail.com

If not a replacement bottom, it'll be a day with wrenches in my near future once I know how to do it.

Please advise in either respect. Thanks, Happy Ptin', ptprice

I didn't even know the seats would have any connection to the air bags. Learn something new today .

I've arranged with a local upholster Daytona Upholstery to replace both of the challenged panels in SOOO BIG's passenger seat bottom for a reasonable cost. They've done other, very good, restoration upholstery work for me. The lighter Pearl Beige is leather and as you'd expect from Chrysler, the darker Taupe is vinyl. He has both the original Chrysler materials and colors on hand. It'll be in tomorrow morning and I'll get SOOO BIG back again the same afternoon. I don't even have to take the seat out, he will.

I only require that the colors, material and grain match, the same stitch holes are followed and the cover fits as tight and uniform as it did before! I'd ask no less of myself as a craftsman and artist if my health would allow me to do the work myself! Three things but one standard! My whole premise in life, "Anything worth doing is worth doing right"!

I've been putting this off ever since I moved the driver's seat bottom to the passenger side to stave off the wear. So I bought more than two years before having to do it.
